The first three weeks of July appear stronger as compared to the last week of July, when a powerfully challenging group of planets associate. We will likely feel the change in energy as we build up to this last week (if you haven’t already begun to feel it). Use the first three weeks of the month for important projects, decisions, travel and activities. The last week of the month will likely present some rough events in the world at large, impacting weather (increased likelihood of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions & major storms), environmental problems, financial market swings, security issues and the increased possibility for terrorist attacks or war around the world. That is a good time to stay close to home, meditate and pray. Already, the first tropical hurricane, Alex, formed in the Gulf of Mexico in late June, which is one month earlier than normal according to historical records. I’ve recently written a manuscript on “Predicting Hurricanes through Vedic Astrology” to be published for an upcoming conference on Mundane Astrology (planned for October 2010 in India). The manuscript will be placed on my website this week for your perusal (SEE PUBLICATIONS). On Saturday evening, 7/3 the Sun and Ketu form an exact conjunction at 17o57’ Gemini. Mercury is also conjunct the Sun and Ketu. These planets also receive the wide aspect of Saturn. The Sun and Ketu are transiting through Ardra nakshatra, known for creating “tears” or water events, such as storms. This is a strong signature for hurricane formation, as Gemini is an air sign and Ardra churns the winds and the waters. Expect July to bring the birth of several tropical storms, possibly leading to hurricane strength. More than normal rainfall is also expected in the tropics. Malefic aspects to the Sun by Ketu and Saturn weaken the overall confidence level, vitality and energy in the atmosphere, due to stress and pressures. For the U.S., the Sun rules the fortunate 9th house, and the Sun is weakened this month. Weakness of the transiting Sun is problematic for the U.S., as it lowers the confidence level of the country, harms employment and reduces the U.S. power and influence in the world. The president is also represented by the Sun. Weakness to the Sun weakens the president’s power as well as the government’s influence to be effective in resolving problems at home and around the world. How much weaker can that get? The Total Solar Eclipse on July 11th: On 7/11, a total solar eclipse occurs on the new Moon at 25 degrees Gemini (Punarvasu). This eclipse occurs within 3 degrees of the U.S.’s natal Sun. The affects of a solar eclipse are experienced over time, rather than immediately, as is commonly thought. When future transiting planets aspect or return to this eclipse point, then events manifest. The duration of the effects are related to the length of time in minutes for an eclipse to terminate (1 minute = 1 year of future influence). This particular total solar eclipse is “total” across French Polynesia, Easter Island and southern Chile into southwestern Argentina. This eclipse is “partial” across southern South America and the South Pacific. This eclipse is one of the longest amongst eclipses, as its maximum totality length will be 5 minutes 20 seconds. Therefore, expect these regions to experience the impact of this eclipse over the next 6 years and 8 months. In fact, any country (including the U.S.) that has planets between 20 - 30 degrees sidereal Gemini will experience some particular effect of this eclipse, for better or worse, depending on the houses the planet(s) rule and the house the planet(s) is/are posited. Individuals with major planets (Sun, Moon, Lagna, Lagnesh, Dasha/Bhukti planets in force) near 25 degrees sidereal Gemini are also impacted in some particular way, depending on the planets involved and their house rulerships. Chile is particularly prone to earthquakes at this time, so I’d anticipate additional earthquakes in southern South America over the next few years (not necessarily on this date). Monitoring major world events around 7/11 will provide further details of what might be anticipated in the world over the next few years as a result of this solar eclipse. Punarvasu nakshatra is symbolized by a “quiver of arrows,” and its meaning is to make “good again” or “prosperous again.” It is the story of renewal, to repair, mend and improve a situation after a loss or destruction has taken place. The “quiver of arrows” makes this nakshatra associated with weapons and can refer to fighting, protecting or defending. The arrows refer to stored potential energy that can be used to hit a particular target. The target might be for an improvement or it might be for a defensive action. Stored energy also refers to conserving wealth and saving money. It’s also interesting that the basis below is connected to moisture or rain, further emphasizing the possibility of excessive rainfall, flooding and storms. |
